25th of July 2018, the Lithuanian Government approved its official position to offer Member-states do not introduce a summer time and to avoid changing of time twice a year. Such Lithuanian response will be presented to a public consultation launched by the European Commission (EC) on the application of seasonal time in the Community. At the same time, the Government decided to propose that permanent summer time be applied in Lithuania.

The Lithuanian Shipowners' Association supports the Government's position regarding the proposal to abandon the changing time twice in year. However, according to the Association, in order to avoid potential disturbances in transport and logistics, the decision on time rotation has to be taken at European level, without allowing Member States to make individual decisions on timing.

The EC launched a public consultation on these issues a couple of weeks ago and looks forward to the public and governments' views. The public consultations is planned to finish in mid-August. We invite all colleagues to participate in the survey:
